Personality: high energy, loves cats, super friendly towards people, very playful, always has his tail wagging and a smile on his face with his tongue hanging out. This rambunctious trouble maker actually made the news a few years ago after escaping from a high kill shelter. He spent two weeks on the run, somehow managing to evade his captors, and breaking into multiple stores and schools (and even wandering onto a public bus once!) until he was finally caught. A volunteer for a non-profit cat rescue saw the news story and quickly rushed in to help, knowing the shelter wouldn't be too keen on keeping the dog after all the trouble he had caused. As expected the facility he originally belonged to was all too happy to give him over, and the cat rescue took over his care. He gained quite a bit of attention considering his size and boundless amounts of energy, and he even managed to get along beautifully with the rescue's many cats. They used him to 'dog proof' their adoptable kitties and let him roam the main office freely to greet visitors. Sadly after a short year the non-profit ended up closing down, so they decided to find this guy a more permanent home. He was bounced around between fosters until he finally found himself here, ready to start a new life with a new forever home.

First Introduction: When I first heard that this loving boy needed a home, I was thrilled because Ryn and Noli both needed another friend. I called up the cat shelter and arranged a time where we could meet. Noli and Ryn happily jumped into the car and soon we met Sergeant. I left my two girls in the car just until I could make sure that it was safe for them. When I walked through the doors, I was warmly greeted with a slobbery kiss and a lot of tail wagging. He was so thrilled to see a visitor. It was safe to say that my girls would love their new friend. So, I let them out of the car and as soon as they saw him, they ran up to him and started to play with him. The staff and I let them run around for a while and then we had him say his goodbyes to the staff and his favorite kitties. He then happily jumped into the car and I could hear his tail thumping away all the way home.

Meeting another pet: Sergeant had no problem meeting Noli and Ryn. He was so thrilled to meet them and have a friend that was a dog. Being surrounded by cats, he didn't have anyone to wrestle with. As soon as I let them out of the car, Noli and Sergeant started chasing each other. Noli tackled Sergeant and he was so shocked that so much force and power came from a smaller dog. They wrestled as if they were brothers and Ryn just watched and eventually joined in. Sergeant was thrilled to have two playmates who he didn't have to worry about squishing. He eventually wore out Noli and Ryn and they all laid down under the shade panting. Later, I checked on them again and they were all asleep until I called them in for dinner. I didn't have to worry about Sergeant attacking any of my animals because he was so well socialized and so friendly. Before I went to bed, I looked over at him and he had a smile a mile long and his tail was thumping away.
